What:
CompPharma, LLC is a consortium of pharmacy benefit management (PBM) firms
that are active in workers’ compensation. Through the partnership,
PBMs share the cost of researching, developing and maintaining a web-based
database of up-to-date legal and regulatory information and other services.
This frees up financial resources that PBMs can direct toward lowering
the cost of prescription drugs to payers of workers’ compensation
claims (self-insured employers, general managed care companies, third-party
administrators, and insurance carriers).
Members:
CompPharma’s founding members are Aetna Workers’ Comp Access,
Cypress Care, Medical Services Company (MSC), Modern Medical, Inc., and
Progressive Medical Inc.
When/Where:
The company is based in Madison, Conn. and was incorporated in 2006.
Who:
CompPharma was established by Joseph Paduda, a national managed care workers’
compensation expert and consultant, based in Madison, Conn. and Helen
Knight, an industry consultant based in Tampa, Fla.
